Truck

Thursday, April 19th, 2007

One reason I wrote the previous post is because I thought it was about time to put something new here. Then I realized I had other news to post. The day before yesterday my truck got stolen. I got off the bus and at the park and ride and my truck wasn’t there. So now it’s an extra 20 min. each way to ride the local bus, 1 mile, to the express bus stop.

It was just a little over a year ago when it was stolen the last time. Hopefully I get it back this time too. At least I have a second vehicle now. People kept leaving notes on it that they want to buy it, so if I get it back maybe I’ll sell it and let it get stolen from someone else.

Learn to Program with Java

Thursday, April 19th, 2007

I bought a new book on Java the other day, “Learn to Program with Java”, by John Smiley.  It’s fairly basic in its approach but it seems good so far and the basic-approach seem to make it easier to remember some of the important points.  I’ll have to post again when I get done reading it.

Down with spam

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

I activated the Akismet anti-spam plug-in yesterday. Seems to be working. It won’t affect the readers here that much but I won’t have to keep responding to the e-mails announcing the bogus posts.

The web pages are back

Monday, April 9th, 2007

I didn’t anounce it but I got the two web pages from the old site back late yesterday.

By the way, if you get a chance, watch the “Planet Earth” series currently playing on the Discovery Channel.  Vary interesting.

Posts Restored

Sunday, April 8th, 2007

Well I got the posts restored but the old pages don’t work.  I kind of know what I need to do to fix them so I’ll keep working on them and get them working over the next day or so.

Hello world! — Version 2

Sunday, April 8th, 2007

Welcome to WordPress. This is your my first post on the new server. Edit or delete it, then start blogging!

I’ll (presumably) get my old content restored here as soon as I figure out how.

Super Computers

Saturday, April 7th, 2007

I found a site where you can get access to old supercomputers for free.

I’m not sure how much good it will do me as I’ve not had any extra time to play with the 1130 (IBM minicomputer I learned to program on) or the Hercules (IBM mainframe) emulators I found a while back.

Only in Phoenix

Monday, April 2nd, 2007

There was a fire in the Salt River today. (Not beside the river. Not on the Bank. In the river.)

I had been thinking they need to to cut the brush or mow the river for a while.
