ENG111: Technical Writing

Wednesday, January 17th, 2007

I had my first class meeting last night for the Technical Writing class I am taking. I was suppose to write a little about my self for it and thought it would make a good post here also. A lot of that class will take place on xanga.com (see http://www.xanga.com/awendtlandt). So now I have two blog’s to keep up.

As an aside, before I paste in my introduction from that, I got my fingerprint clearance card today. Now I can started working on the stuff I was hired to do. Yah!

I a computer programmer, just getting back into the field after being on involuntarily furlough the last few years. (I was laid off.) I’ve been taking various computer classes (just to update my skills) at several of the Maricopa Community Colleges for the last 15 years or so. I’m going to keep doing that, but I’m also going to concentrate on filling in required classes so that I can get my Associates and Bachelors degrees.

From this class, I just want to write better. I think my writing tends to be a little choppy. I would like it to flow a little better. I (sometimes) do tons of writing on the job. In the past, when doing design work, I’ve filled a couple of 2″ ring binders with detailed documentation. Anything I can do to speed up that process, and improve the quality, would be very valuable.
